Career tests match what you enjoy and how you work against the kinds of roles where those tendencies tend to fit. They are best read as a way to widen the list of options you are considering, not to narrow it to one answer.
What career & professional tests measure
Interest inventories are the backbone here. Most build on Holland's RIASEC model, which groups occupational interests into realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising and conventional, and matches your profile against the profiles typical of different roles. Work-style and leadership measures cover something different — not what you want to do but how you operate while doing it: how you handle deadlines, how you prefer to be managed, how you behave in conflict.
How to choose the right one
Take an interest inventory when you are choosing a direction or considering a change, and a work-style test when the direction is settled but the environment is not — the second explains far more about why a job felt wrong than the first does. Read the output as a list of fields worth researching rather than a verdict, then go and talk to people who actually do those jobs.
What these results can't tell you
Interest is not aptitude and neither is opportunity. These tests measure what appeals to you, which is only one input into a career, alongside skills, market conditions, pay, and what you can realistically access. No assessment here should be the reason you take or leave a job.
